Today I’m sharing the backstory and inspiration of my newest fabric collection, Around the Bend.
July is here! That also means my newest fabric collection, Around the Bend, starts shipping to stores! Be sure to ask your local quilt shop if they’ve ordered it! All of my hand-drawn designs are overprinted on Essex, Essex Yarn Dyed, and Essex Homespun! It’s 23 prints available in yardage as well as a 10-Square, fat quarter bundle, and a coordinating Palette Picks fat quarter bundle! I hope you find them inspiring!
And of course I’m so excited to show you all the projects I’ve made using the collection. Around the Bend projects are starting their little tour to quilt shops (so maybe you’ll get to see some in person if you visit your local quilt shop when it’s safe to do so!). I sewed my heart out last fall and then my whole family helped me venture around our area to get the samples photographed!
Inspiration for Around the Bend came to me while out at a local park, Sidie Hollow. We’re always out and about seeking the next adventure with my dog, Frida. I spend so much time looking at the amazing things nature creates and I love witnessing the change of the seasons. Over the years we’ve spent a lot of time doing different activities at Sidie Hollow including mountain biking, hiking, cook outs, and even a summer concert. It holds a special place in our hearts. There’s a great little trail that goes around the lake and along a trout stream – and that’s where Around the Bend started!
Each design in Around the Bend plays with the different features of the park. Ripples off the lake, wildflowers including Asters, Coreopsis, and Goldenrod are all prints in the collection. My abstract print is based loosely on shelf fungus found on the local hardwood trees.
I’ll be sharing all of my projects using Around the Bend over the next few weeks so stay tuned! For now you can find Around the Bend starting to arrive at your local quilt shop. It comes in yardage, fat quarter bundles, and a ten-square. I need to make a ten-square quilt using it (here’s my FREE tutorial for making the quilt)!
I hope you’ll enjoy using Around the Bend in your next project! Thank you so much for all of your encouraging support.
