Thanks so much Delia for putting together another round of Color Your Summer! I’m so happy to be joining in this year. I definitely can relate to PINK, after all I’ve got two little girls who both love pink.
I tried to convert them to liking other colors, was pretty sucessfull for a while. My oldest liked red for a long time, my youngest used to love blue, but now they both change their minds almost daily (like their mother perhaps?!).
So I figured they might give me some inspiration for this Color Your Summer project. It worked pretty well. I definitely think they’ll be giving their friends these fabric friendship bracelets.
These are so easy and quick to make up, use your favorite fabric and you’ll have plenty leftover. Just don’t forget to share them with your friends!
Materials:
- 2″ tall by 7.5″ long piece of fabric (longer or shorter depending on the size wrists you’ll be making them for)
- scrap of lightweight fusible interfacing (optional)
- embroidery floss for the ties
- thread, etc.
Measure your wrist, below is an example of my wrist and how I got the measurement.
Step 1:
Cut your fabric, fuse on interfacing if you choose to use some). I used Robert Kaufmann Essex Linen in Hot Pink!
Step 2:
Press the fabric in by 1/4″ on all 4 sides.
Fold in half lengthwise again.
Step 3:
Braid three strands of embroidery floss. Make two, about 6″ long, tie knots at each end on both pieces.
Step 4:
Sew around all four edges, tucking the braided ties into each end as you go.
Step 5:
Wear and share with your friends!
Here’s to a great summer!

Oh my gosh! These are SO adorable! I love them (and I’m a huge pink fan too). I’m stopping over from Jeni (In Color Order). Your blog is amazing. I love it!
Oh, wonderful 🙂
They would be so cute with a button closure too…. for example, a bright colorful button or a glitzy rhinestone one! Cute idea!
Pink are the most using color in the bracelets, specially when you are giving for a girl! this is a nice post on it!
Interesting Ideas
This is my first post EVER. I am “posting” because I think your site is
AWESOME. I like and want to make everything !!
We loved the idea and added lots of fabric marker art for an original artwork!
It’s amazing how easy and cute this project is. It is a great project to sew when teaching your child. I’ve included in our Kids sewing projects roundup at https://hellosewing.com/30-fun-easy-sewing-projects-kids/
Plus it is a great way to use scraps from other projects, too
