Koi Cargo Duffle

Surely you didn’t think I was kidding when I said I had another Cargo Duffle finished? Okay, so here’s the other Cargo Duffle I made for one of the classes that I taught.  It was really fun picking out these fabrics.  I love the Koi (Rashida Coleman-Hale for Cloud 9 Fabrics) and think the rest of the colors really bring it all together.  I added a few simple stitches to the front pocket just to add some interest.  I think I like it.

Hope you’re joining along on C’est La Vie‘s Sew Along.  And take a minute to review my last post that has some tips and be sure to download the updated file right on over at Robert Kaufman.

I’ve seriously had so much fun making these duffles, but I think I have enough now as they’re starting to fill my front coat closet.  I’ll need to make some little plan to get them out my door.

Here’s to moving on to more fun stuff!  I’ve got a blazer that I’ve been waiting to make for so long!  I’m super pumped about it.  What new things are you sewing?  Already changing gears for Spring?

a bunch of 241’s

It’s been a while since I’ve shared a 241 Tote here.  It seems like I just enjoy seeing what other people make with the pattern.  I taught the 241 Tote class at Camp Stitchalot and these were some of the ones that I finished up.  I really loved picking out the fabrics for these totes, it’s hard to stop!

I made a few changes to each tote.  For this one I just did a single exterior slash pocket.  Love that cute zipper pull.

For this version I made an adjustable strap and also used a hidden magnetic snap.  I love love hidden magnetic snaps.  They are sort of hard to find, but usually on etsy I have good luck.  The hidden snaps feel just right to me, not too hard to open and really quite easy to install.  My Go Anywhere Bag pattern has directions on how to install them.

And lastly, this 241 used a hidden magnetic snap as well.

I still get asked why it’s named the 241 Tote.  It’s really pretty funny, but simple.  I had thought with a couple different options it was really like getting two bags for the price of one.  Hence, 241 (two for one).  But my husband calls it the happy hour bag, you know, because we’re so hilarious.

boy Road Trip Case

I’m still having so much fun with my Road Trip Case Pattern.  I had pulled out this mustache fabric to make another one for Natalie (she has a thing for mustaches), but I ended up making this one for our neighbor. He’s the one who first had a Rainbow Loom and showed my girls how to make them.  So I figured it would be fun to give him a case.

His favorite color is blue so I tried to incorporate that into the inside of the case.  I think the mustaches are just too funny not to use.  I can’t wait to try another one and do some more patchwork for the exterior pieces, it’s just fun to be able to customize it!

I also left off the button/loops for the loom and plastic organizer case.  I think an older child doesn’t necessarily need the loops to keep the items extra secure, even though I like the detail that they add.  I did try and snug the elastic in a little tighter on this one. So I guess what I’m trying to say is that you can put them on or leave them off, it’s totally up to you!

Of course this is the one version of the pockets, but the pattern includes an alternate pocket arrangement for art supplies, sewing, cross stitch, and embroidery projects.  I got to use the one I made for myself for sewing this past weekend.  It was awesome.  I even slipped my skinny pincushion right in the middle, fit perfectly.
