a bunch of 241’s

It’s been a while since I’ve shared a 241 Tote here.  It seems like I just enjoy seeing what other people make with the pattern.  I taught the 241 Tote class at Camp Stitchalot and these were some of the ones that I finished up.  I really loved picking out the fabrics for these totes, it’s hard to stop!

I made a few changes to each tote.  For this one I just did a single exterior slash pocket.  Love that cute zipper pull.

For this version I made an adjustable strap and also used a hidden magnetic snap.  I love love hidden magnetic snaps.  They are sort of hard to find, but usually on etsy I have good luck.  The hidden snaps feel just right to me, not too hard to open and really quite easy to install.  My Go Anywhere Bag pattern has directions on how to install them.

And lastly, this 241 used a hidden magnetic snap as well.

I still get asked why it’s named the 241 Tote.  It’s really pretty funny, but simple.  I had thought with a couple different options it was really like getting two bags for the price of one.  Hence, 241 (two for one).  But my husband calls it the happy hour bag, you know, because we’re so hilarious.

Pattern: 241 Tote
Fabrics: Echino, Maya by Leah Duncan, Sara Watts Timber & Leaf
Zippers: Zipit on Etsy
Hidden magnetic snap: BeingBags on Etsy

Hope you have a lovely Thursday! ♥

I love, love this pattern and have made it twice. I would like to make one with the long adjustable strap because I like to wear my bags over body. Have you written up instructions for how to do that? I have tried it before on a different pattern but it came out terrible! Also, I love the way you write instructions. 🙂

I have the adjustable strap instructions with my Sidekick tote Pattern. 🙂

  3. I love it! What an awesome bag!

The fabric combinations are so pretty! I think I need to make myself another one, just a bit larger (similar to the Go Anywhere). 🙂

  5. Great bag, would be hard to choose which one I like best…

Please please do tell how to add the adjustable strap feature (if not in the pattern as comments suggests). It will make this THE perfect bag. Cannot wait to order the pattern and get to work. Beautiful all around!!!

I have the adjustable strap in my other pattern, the Sidekick Tote. I don’t plan on adding it to the 241 pattern though, sorry!

They are all great! Like the yellow-gray flower one most.

Love the yellow gray one! I’m terrible at fabric pairing – especially when buying fabrics online. So disheartening to realize that they don’t look the same in person!

These are gorgeous. I agree that picking out the fabrics for this bag is SO fun. And it is quite a quick and easy sew for such a great bag!

  13. Katy Cameron says:

Heh, love the alternative name :o)

Yeah! I can justify saving all the hardware from my old purses! (my kids think I’m kind of funny that way)
    :o)
This purse will be so fun to make (and show off too)! Thank you for your lovely talent and humor.

These are all so great. The adjustable straps look so professional. I think I need to just set aside a week and sew up all of your patterns!!

Gorgeous bags! I actually made my own magnetic snap when I didn’t want to wait for one mailed from etsy. I bought some powerful magnets from the hardware store and used scraps to pouch them.

I went to the bag website–there is no listing for hidden magnetic snaps

    1. Anna says:

She must be sold out, a search through etsy should turn some up. 🙂

They are all fabulous. I really like the pocket with the cute zipper pull on the yellow one.

I love all of these! I am wondering if you might have some Maya scraps you’d like to sell or swap? I adore Leah Duncan and never got a chance to get my hands on any of this line. Thanks!
