Enchanted Quilt

I’m excited to share this quilt finish here! This  one took a backseat to just about every other project for most of the summer. I had made all the blocks at the sewing get-together near Madison in June and they sat on my shelf and waited for me. I love the colors and pulled the fabrics using a set of fat quarter of Enchanted by Michelle Engel Bencsko for Cloud 9 Fabrics to start with. They’re great colors and when Amanda announced she was doing a charity quilt sew-along I was really happy to try and join in. They were in need of quilts for boys and I hope this will make some boy happy!

I kept the quilting pretty light as I wanted it to be soft and snuggly. I did a simple zig zag down each column (you can see it best from the back). For the backing I got lucky and was able to use a single piece of the Cotton Chambray Dots (in Indigo) from Robert Kaufman. I love that stuff! And it’s 57” wide, so it’s perfect for all sorts of awesome projects.

I wasn’t going to wash it, but then decided between all the lint and dog fur it accumulated over the course of making it, that someone would probably appreciate it being freshly clean. Plus I threw a color catcher in and it caught quite a bit of bleed, so overall I’m glad I did it.

Pattern: Rail Fence Quilt (Crazy Mom Quilts Sew-Along)
Fabric: Enchanted by Michelle Engel Bencsko (and some favorites thrown in)

And the winner of the Leah Duncan Gramercy half yard fabric bundle is:

Kristie Kemp who said:
‘I want them all!!! I can’t choose a favorite! She is so talented!!!’

Agreed Kristie! Leah is so so talented. 🙂 Thanks for playing along!

That’s awesome- and even cooler you are donating it! I only wish I were able to quilt well enough to donate something (and fast enough! holy cats I’m slow…). You are so going to make some kiddo’s day.

    It’s beautiful!!!!

  14. I’ve quilted with a wavy line before and found it a nightmare man-handling (woman-handling??!!) such a thick kingsize wodge of fabric back and forth through the machine. How did you manage with the zig-zag? I imagine it’s a similar problem. Have you got a long-arm sewing machine to help you?
