Last Minute Gifts

I’m pushing through these last few projects that are left on my to-do list for Christmas giving.  Eek!  I’m a little behind.  Probably a bit ambitious, but you know, why not.  I put together a kitchen gift set for my boss, she’s an excellent cook and I know she’ll appreciate it.  Jacquie over at Tallgrass Prairie Studio has an awesome tutorial on how to make these great potholder/dishtowel sets.  (She also has a ton of other great info and tutorials.  If you haven’t visited her blog before – you’d better!)

My other boss is a simple kind of guy, his famous quote is “if you can’t carry it in a backpack you probably don’t need it”.  How many bosses say that?!  So I made him some Chocolate Espresso Snowcaps and put them in this cute little box.  Yum!  My husband had also made grape jam earlier this fall and we are giving them each a jar.

Hope you have a very Merry Christmas!  I’ve got a few more gifts to show off, so I might post some before Christmas or the day after.

Fat Quarters

Fabric sale + me = lots of fabric

I came home with 30, yes 30, fat quarters the other day.  Why 30?! Seams kind of exessive, right?  Well, my local quilt shop was having a great sale, buy 20 fat quarters and get 10 free.  Yipee!  Could you pass up that deal?  It seemed like a challenge to be able to pick out that many, but I really had no trouble, haha.

Now my question to you is, what to do with all these?  They’re definitely not all coordinating, I just picked out what I liked.  Any recommendations for me on some great tutorials out there that use fat quarters (or less)?  Besides the Buttercup bag, the most fabulous fat quarter bag out there?

And did you read this post over at Bloom?  It really struck home for me.  Hope you all have a great Christmas and try not to get too stressed out, okay?

Camera Case

I just love small projects like these!  Have you tried Pink Penguin’s Camera Case Tutorial yet?  It’s so fun and cute and just happens to fit the cameras of just about everyone I know.  I made this one for my sister-in-law as part of her Christmas present.

I should admit that I did have to take off the binding I made and redo it all.  I cut it wayyy to big (2.5″ wide, duh) when it should have been more like 1.5″.  Inside I included a little tag that had her name and phone number just in case the little turkey would get lost.  I used an iron on transfer sheet and fused it to the inside and then did some hand stitching around the whole tag.

Anyway, a case like this is just great in general and could be used for many other things than just a camera.  Yay!

Broken Christmas Ornament Count:  33 (well, maybe that’s on the high side, but all ornaments are now missing from the lower half of the tree).
