Apple Gadget and some instant gratification

Check this out, your next must have kitchen gadget.  It’s one of the most amazing things ever – if you like apples that is (of course it can be used for pears, and possibly other things as well).  My mom had gotten me this last fall and we LOVE it!  It’s so easy, it literally takes about 10 seconds to peel, core, and slice an apple!  I think it cost around $12, so it’s pretty reasonable, too.  If you like baking with apples or just eating them without all that work, this is your thing.

The funny part is that when I used it today miss picky decided that eating the peel wasn’t so bad after all.  Go figure.

And for some instant gratification – a super quick project, a pillow case.  Natalie is going to pre-school a couple days a week and needs a pillow for naptime.  She picked out the outrageous Dora fabric (yes, I tried to convince her to use some fabric I liked, but you know how that goes).  I think it turned out pretty cute for 15 minutes.  It’s one of those travel size pillows, $5 at target, nice.  I did the back envelope style, but added some snaps so it would stay shut.  I got away with using just a 1/2 yard.  Done.

Apple Affair

The craft show went really well yesterday.  Of course that is, if you consider the freezing temperatures and pouring rain!  Overall I would call it a success.  I had fun meeting all sorts of people and there was even one lady who squeeled with delight when she saw my stuff, that was a compliment in and of itself!

There’s also a cool bridge and rock walls near the craft show, so the girls and my husband went to check it out! Aren’t they sweet?

Spumoni Quilt

This is my first quilt I made – ever.  I made it for a friend of mine from college who just had a baby girl.  This was made in May, but I thought – what the heck?!  It’s fun to share.  I got the idea from the book Sew Darn Cute by Jenny Ryan.  If you haven’t looked at this book, don’t!  You’ll be hooked and want to make everything in it, it’s really amazing and is one of the things that inspired me to start sewing more.  I used a combination of some reproduction fabrics and an Amy Butler fabric for the back/binding.  It was a fun project and I learned A LOT!
