Strawberry Halloween

Strawberry Halloween Costume - NoodleheadI promised Natalie I’d make her a strawberry costume for Halloween. Thinking up costume ideas is the best, but sewing them is honestly one of my very least favorite things to do. I’m not really sure why, but I think it’s mostly because the time and effort to make something that’ll only get worn for one evening isn’t super appealing to me. Although this year Emily is going as the butterfly that I made a few years ago. So there’s that. I remember my mom making me several costumes (thanks mom). And every year in college I crafted up something spectacular. My favorite one being a bag of jelly beans (I used a giant clear garbage bag and filled it with colored mini balloons, complete with a Jelly Belly label – I think that was in 1999 – yikes!).

Strawberry Halloween Costume - NoodleheadWe did have moments of fun while making this goofy fleece thing! Stuffing it was the best part, followed by adding the yarn strawberry seeds. Oh and the headband, slammed together in a hurry, but I think it’s so cute.

Rain Walk Kids Clothes

Geranium Dress featuring Rain Walk

I couldn’t resist sewing a 0-3 month size Geranium Dress using Rain Walk. Made by Rae’s Geranium dress pattern is one of those instant classics that looks beautiful in any fabric. I forgot how tiny the dress is! I had made one for my niece before she was born, and it didn’t look super small then. I can hardly imagine my girls being that small, but it’s true! You just forget how quickly they grow.

As for the boy side of things, I knew the blue Swell print would make an awesome pair of little boys pants. The canvas was perfect for these pants, they’d stand up to a bit more wear and tear than quilting cotton which is always nice considering – pants, you know, they get abused. Again, pulling from my favorite Rae patterns, these Parsley Pants with the cute knee patches and patch pockets kill me every time.

Parsley Pants and Flashback Tee using Rain Walk

My girls both wanted these pants, of course. And I would have made them bigger, but this 3T was just too cute not to sew up. To make things complete I had to make a matching Flashback Tee with coordinating pocket. I love those little green leaves.

So I went all “Rae” with Rain Walk. There you have it. Thanks Rae for making such awesome patterns! And excuse me while I print off the Parsley Pants in my girls’ sizes. Parsley shorts anyone? I hope they’ll love them!

Natalie’s Lulu Dress

Lulu Dress (Pattern by Craftiness is Not Optional) sewn by Noodlehead

I told you I was going to try to make a fleet of these! Of course once Emily loved her Lulu dress, I promised Natalie I’d make her one. Even though the sizing goes up to 8, I felt like there was enough wiggle room that I would make it work for Natalie who is a 9/10. And there was! It fits her great.

I’ve been trying to make sure I dig through my garment fabric stash before I think I need to buy something new. It’s hard when there is always some new and fabulous designs I want to use. Maybe I’ll get to that point this summer were I can deplete my stash enough so I can sew with the new stuff right away! I find it really easy to buy a chunk of fabric and then let it sit and sit – even though I just couldn’t wait to have it.

This knit came from Wanderlust Fabrics, which I had found from friends I follow on Instagram. It’s a great little shop for knits. Of course using this only makes me want to go out and buy more knit fabric, but you know, old habits die hard.
