I always appreciate a fun and quick project – so in steps the mini Hillside Tote! I love this pattern for its simplicity. It’s the perfect opportunity to showcase Around the Bend – in this Hillside Tote!
Always a favorite
My favorite part is that you can feature a favorite print on the exterior pockets and then add a fun splash on the inside, too! It doesn’t take long to sew up or cut, but is just enough to keep your hands busy for a while before moving on to the next step. If you’ve made a hand full of zippered pouches, the Hillside would be a great project to up your skill level!
The Hillside Tote pattern comes in two sizes (you know I can’t resist at least of couple of size options!). This is the mini size, fitting all your basics and few little extras.
To speed things up even more, I did a quick non-adjustable leather strap. I like doing my straps this way – just as my own preference. I know what strap length I like, so it’s quick and easy to make one and not have to worry too much about more hardware or steps. That’s one reason I love sewing so much – that you can make it however you want!!! Yay for that!

Looks like I need to make a few more just for fun!
Also, a huge thank you to my daughter for her modeling!!!
Hi, Very nice Hillside Tote. I like the mini size. May I please ask what length you cut the 1″ leather for the strap?
Thank you,
Karen
Hi Karen, this one is about 46″. 🙂
Is there a video?
Hi Liz, I don’t currently have a video for the Hillside. There might be some bag makers that have already filmed one on Youtube.
I am trying to use some canvas on the top piece exterior but cannot seem to find the dimensions for the rectangle I assume is used?
Hi Crystal, I believe you’re talking about the dark color used in this sample? It’s the main body of the bag (covered by the front/back pockets – the floral fabric), not a separate piece. Those dimensions are in the cutting instructions list. If you have further questions email us directly at hello@noodle-head.com, don’t forget the hyphen or it won’t go through! Thank you!
