I’m excited to be a part of Lotta’s new book tour today!Β Her new book Lotta Jansdotter’s Everyday Style is one I had been eyeing up for a while. Ever since I heard that she paired up with Alexia Abegg, I knew it was going to be amazing. Of course I’ve always loved Lotta’s beautiful and clean Scandinavian style.
The book is a beautiful hardcover with full-size pattern sheets included in the back envelope. The front of the book is filled with tons of information and inspiration and is divided seasonally. I thought it was extremely awesome that the garments were shown on a variety of models (as well as Lotta herself). The projects are great basics that would definitely be great for anyone to add to their sewing repertoire, included are a shirt, jacket + coat, shorts + pant, top + dress, top + tunic + kaftan, and bags.
Once I flipped through and spotted the Esme Top I knew that was what I wanted to make. A simple top, with a variety of sleeve options. It also includes tunic and kaftan styles. And fast it was! The size chart is found on page 127. Tracing and cutting went off without a hitch. Only due to personal preference, I omitted the facings and went with a bias tape finish at the neckline. I seriously can’t believe how quickly it sewed up! And with this amazing fabric (of course it’s by Lotta, too!) it’s a top that looks like I put in way more effort getting dressed thanΒ I actually did (or at least I hope, ha!). I feel dressed up, but it’s just a simple top that’s super comfy. I will definitely be making more.

I want your shoes! I’m waiting on some backing for a quilt top that I just finished (Wanta Fanta quilt). And I started working on this other quilt that I put away for a bit because it was driving me crazy (Haute Ziggity quilt). I want to start Fancy Forest by Elizabeth Hartman but I should really get my other projects done. And I need to fix lasagna and deal with the aftermath of giving my child M&Ms to keep her occupied for 20 minutes. And I shouldn’t have had that 3rd cup of coffee. LOL
I hadn’t seen this book yet! Thanks for a great introduction and review. I adore Lotta’s work!
My bestie will be in town for a conference this weekend. I’m planning on picking her up from the airport & spending some time with her before I have to deliver her to her destination. I usually only see her once a year, so I’m delighted to get a second (albeit short) visit this year.
