I’m honored to be joining in on the Frock tour. Cotton + Steel has come out with an all rayon collection called Frock. There are 8 prints total and I had such a hard time deciding which one to pick!
Lisette 2246 (view B) was on my ‘to sew’ list for a long time (Lisette is a sister company of Oliver + S). I can’t even remember how long ago I had gotten the pattern. But when Cotton + Steel asked about sewing something with Frock, I knew I had a perfect pair.
I love rayon, it’s the most comfortable fabric to wear (besides a t-shirt!) and still look amazing in. The fabric flows and drapes so nicely and it really moves with your body. I’ve made a couple tops (tank and blouse) with it already and knew anything I made would be something I would wear. I’ve been trying to be really intentional about what fabrics I pick and what types of garments I sew. Lately, that means not a lot of garments being made. Going through my closet, I’ve become more aware of sewing clothes that I will wear, instead of ones that just look pretty or that I would hope I would wear.
This dress is fairly short, but I think I would wear it with legging/skinny jeans regardless if it was longer or not. I love the shirt tail hem and collar. I would also love to learn how to make adjustments to fit my wide shoulders. Soon I hope! I probably should have made a muslin, but overall I’m really happy. I used the finished garment measurements from the envelope to pick my size. I chose to make a size 10 and I think with a small adjustment to make across my back a little more roomy, I’ll be making another soon.
Thanks to the Cotton + Steel ladies for having me on the tour! And be sure to check out all the other projects made using Frock:

So pretty!! You look beautiful and love the dress!
I think your dress is lovely and great to go with jeans or dress it up a bit with leggings. To me, that’s a very modern look that I like. 🙂

so so pretty! i love that colorway. actually i love all the colorways. actually i love all the Frock!!
so cute!!! I love this collection so much and can’t wait to get my hands on more!
This is so gorgeous on you Anna! I think it may be my favorite clothing item you’ve made :).
This turned out beautifully! The shoulders are always my problem too – when you figure that modification out please share 🙂
Perfect pattern for that fabric!
Fantastic fit!
The easiest should modification is to slit the bodice pattern (top and bottom) at the should seam and open it up a touch on both the front and back, tapering the addition like a dart. This would probably end at the bust dart. Do not widen the shoulders at the shoulder line because then the sleeves would fit the sleeve curve.
The dress is very cute–but I would like to see more of the sleeve end. I think you have it rolled up. My computer shows it as gray and red. If that’s the actual color it would be cute with dark gray leggings and either gray or red shoes. At your age, you could wear it with bare legs in the warm weather.
It looks so good on you!
I love this! I clicked on the link to the pattern and thought, “I’d never made that based on the pattern envelope” but your version makes me want to make one right now. Beautiful 🙂
This is so cute! I love the fabric you chose. And I like how long it is… I could wear it with leggings when it gets a bit warmer.
Ah, it’s so beautiful Anna!! I love seeing the rayon in a more detailed dress with a placket and all – most of the rest of us seem to be going more drapey. Haha. You did an awesome job here. I had never really noticed View B of this pattern before but it’s great…why do the Big 4 make it so hard to see the design on the envelopes??
Just gorgeous!! I love that fabric,, and I think I need that pattern ;o) Pinning to my inspiration board!
That is AMAZEBALLS!! You did such an awesome job!! LOVE it! 🙂
