sewing with knits

Aster Cardi

I had the pleasure of sewing up the Aster Cardigan from the Willow & Co. pattern collection.  My friend Vanessa of Little Big Girl Studio designed this super cute cardi!  I had been eagerly awaiting the release of this collection and Vanessa did an amazing job!

I’m a fan of having enough information to make something, but yet not so much information that it gets overwhelming.  Know what I mean? It was straightforward and had every bit of information I needed to finish. I think the cardi took only a little over an hour for me to sew once I had all the pieces cut. And there’s only a few pieces, so that’s always a relief!
I chose to use this pretty Laguna Stretch Knit Jersey in Pepper from Robert Kaufman.  I had some leftover from making some leggings for myself and I knew it would be comfy for my daughter.  I extended the sleeve length from a cropped sleeve to long sleeves only because I knew we could probably get more use out of it.  Plus we can always shorten them!  Thanks Willow & Co. for letting me join along!
Be sure to stop by and check out their lookbook here. And check out all the patterns available in their shop.

There’s a giveaway as well! Willow & Co is also selling fabric! It’s the same fabric used to make all the garments in the Lookbook. Throughout the tour you can enter to win 2 yards of fabric as well as your choice of a pattern from the collection. (the giveaway is open internationally, although if won outside of the US or Canada, the winner will be given store credit to www.willowandcopatterns.com instead of fabric)  To enter just leave a comment below.  Thank you!
