nursery briar rose pillows

So I had a few half square triangles left over from my Briar Rose quilt.  I knew right away they would be pillows.  At least it’s something that can be used now and later as my little niece grows.
I tried a couple different quilting ideas using Vanessa’s Aurifil Simply Color thread collection.  It’s a 28 weight so the quilting lines stand out a bit more.
I also knew I had to use piping, but I also had to use invisible zips.  I hadn’t ever made a piped pillow with an invisible zip too, but I’m happy to report that it’s quite painless!
I seriously scratched my head over piped pillows with zips, but it’s really not as difficult as I dreamed it up to be.
Once you baste down the piping it’s just like sewing with a zipper just like you normally would.  I kind of admit that I’m addicted to making my own piping, just too easy to make exactly what I want.  If you want to know my piping making method, check out my tutorial here.

Fabrics: Briar Rose by Heather Ross for Windham Fabrics, Backings are Briar Rose and Bella (Sunspray Mini Dot) by Lotta Jansdotter (that cute little citrus-y dot).  Essex Yarn Dyed in Flax, piping is made using Michael Miller Cotton Couture in Raspberry.

ps, thanks for the Fabric Berry Basket tutorial comments.  ♥

I often thought about pillows with a piping AND with a zipper (invisible or not). I didn’t try it out by now. If you someday like to make a tutorial of what you did I would be a glad reader. I’m happy to read ‘though that it’s not as difficult or impossible as I thought it might be.
