oh yeah baby, a beach dress for me!
I was totally going to make Heather Ross’ Mendocino Sundress, but then I had to go ahead and change my mind.
It’s basically the same pattern, but I made an elastic casing at the top and under the bust. I love it. And the pockets, oh my! Silky soft voile for pockets is heavenly.
I’d definitely recommend this pattern for anyone, it’s a great dress. Oh, and only used 2 yards of fabric, instead of the 2.5 that it calls for. Now off to the beach!
Love the dress. The colours look great on you too! Cute. x
Lovely sundress Anna! This colour really suits you.
It’s awesome and you look beautiful!!!
What a lovely dress, looks really comfy!
Look at you ya gorgeous thing! The colour is lush with your beautiful red hair. I’ve only recently experienced the revelation that we redheads can indeed rock red!
And Pockets! Yay pockets! x
super cute! I have a beach vaca coming up..AND new to sewing I have been wanting to make something for myself instead of always my girls! Might just jump in and try! 🙂
gorgeous dress Anna! great idea to switch the shirring for 2 elastic casings. x
Lovely dress for the beach, I can make the dress, getting the beach may be a problem. Lucky you for living so close to the coast
so pretty! ( you and the dress!) I love the color, I am such a sucker for bright colors these days!
You look stunning, darling!
Lovely!
That looks great on you! I’m definitely adding that to my to-do list, it looks really quick and easy. Thanks Anna!
You look so cute in your new dress!! I love it!
Is the stitching on the inside of the pockets done by hand? I always wanted to use thick thread and giant stitches on my machine but didn’t think it was possible.

I Love Madras. ever since your Madras bag I have been looking and seeing it at the fabric store. I made two bags already. One of the bags is a little small version and the fabric was thrifted from a pillow sham. Love all of your tutorials!! thanks.
Hooray for a dress for you!! It looks perfect for summer! LOVE these gorgeous pictures!!
Very cute! I tried the Mendocino dress for me, and couldn’t get the pattern pieces the right size. I ended up doing something similar to yours, but with a casing and a tie at the bust instead of elastic. I don’t wear it much bc i don’t like how it fits, but maybe I can alter it a bit after seeing yours! 🙂
How cute! I love madras. What a great beach dress.
It’s beautiful, a nice comfy style and the fabric is so pretty, suits you.
