marshmallow lovelies

Okay, after I posted on my hot chocolate mix so many of you commented on having to make my own marshmallows, so I did!

I can say that it isn’t one of those super ‘have your kids help along the way’ type recipes (at least younger kids like mine), but it was simple and fun and of course delicious.
I think I almost had as much fun taking pictures of them as I did eating them.  hehe, is that wrong?  I just love their soft and powdery goodness.
Have a great weekend and here’s to homemade marshmallows!

  2. I’ve always been scared away by marshmallow recipes, they always seem so difficult! What rating would you give it of ease factor, on a scale from 1 to 10? Lol…Very cute pictures by the way!

  3. They look beautiful and yummy! Maybe someday I’ll actually try the recipe!

Just read through the recipe, and they really look delicious – may just try them but thinking of the waistline with all the sugar but will still go ahead an make some – I just love Marshmallows!!

I made these once for a party and they were so delicious. I used a big snowflake cookie cutter and they just fit in the mugs on the hot chocolate. Mmmmmm.

I love the way they look. Even if they tasted like cardboard I would still make them, because they are so pretty!

Awesome photos. It’s fun to make different flavors too- coffee, peppermin, coconut… yum. I think you can also use flavored jello (like in place of the regular gelatin) but i haven’t tried that one yet…

  15. Leslie says:

Mmmm. We always like to make marshmallows around New Year’s Eve. It’s always kind of a bummer for me because I do not like chocolate, and wish there was another warm drink that was good with marshmallows.

  20. Jeni says:

One of my kiddos is on a fairly limited diet (due to intoleraces) and home made marshmallow is on her list – but I’ve never been brave enough to try…you’ve inspired me! Might give it a go (maybe!!).
And as for that hot chocolate photo…yum 🙂

Oh, they look sooo good and the recipe’s gluten free which pleasantly surprised me. I may have to make some on principle.

  24. Miss A says:

@ *Kate: we used to make a hot caramel drink with steamed milk and caramel syrup. the marshmallows would melt on top and get all foamy… it was delicious! 🙂 i can’t wait to try this recipe!

  25. I made them one time and it broke my mixer and never set correctly. It was a bummer but now I’m scared to make them again.

  26. Julie says:

Making your own CAN get messy and maybe the time taken to make them doesn’t seem like it’s worth it… BUT! When you taste homemade…. it’s NOT WORTH going back to store bought…. Homemade vs. Store-bought…. Homemade wins HANDS DOWN…. YUM 😛

p.s. if you take the time to prepare your pans really well, then the mess factor/cutting time is that much less…. HAVE FUN WITH IT!

  27. Maxabella says:

    One word: YUM! x

I made marshmellows with my 3 year old, and yes, it’s not really an esy thing to make with little ones, we had powdered sugar/corn starch everywhere 🙂
