Here’s the latest quilt I just finished last night. For a baby boy born in January! I think I realized why I love to make quilts — to be able to sit down on the couch and watch tv for a couple hours to attach the binding by hand. I love it! I think I would attaching binding all day long if I could. No kidding…
The fabrics came mostly from fabricworm.com which I had gotten last summer. Thanks goodness a baby boy was born so I could dive in and use it up! I love the Alexander Henry 2D zoo print so much for babies, and I’m glad to see they put out a couple more color ways, yippie.
I decided I should name the quilt the busy boy quilt because I think the fabrics are a little busy. I actually got a little disoriented when I was quilting it, the fabrics seemed to blur together. But I think it’ll be okay, it should see a lot of tummy time action and keep the baby entertained for a bit – maybe.
Just for fun I’m tucking in a couple onesies I had made a while back, hopefully the little guy will get to wear them a bit – after all it’s still very much winter here.
Cute! I love the stripe of busyness on the back of the quilt too 🙂
Too funny that love sewing on binding so much . . . I think that’s my least favorite part! By the time I have to attach the binding, I’m just ready for the quilt to be done already! I was so impatient with my first lap quilt, I used it for a week with no binding at all – just raw edges 🙂
Very cute!! I really like it! And thanks for sharing where you got your fabric from! I think I just found a place I could spend WAY to much money at!
I’ve recently converted to loving hand-sewing on binding. I whipped up a quilt recently, just so I could sew the binding while waiting for my husband to get out of sinus surgery (he got the quilt). It kept me distracted and productive, even while just sitting there…waiting…
that quilt rocks!
that quilt is super cute! i love the busyness…it’s not too much! the fabrics are awesome!
I love it!!
I agree 100% about attaching bindings by hand… LOVE IT! I too would do it all day long, given the chance! :o)
i am with you 100%…hand sewing the binding is my favorite thing. it is so soothing and so fun to see that last part of the quilt puzzle come together. this busy boy quilt looks so great. i love the use of the strips and the quilting….very adorable.
Very cute! The colors and pattern go so well together. I’m jealous of how fast you whip these out… seems like I’ve been working on my zig zag quilt forever now … and I’m so eager to get to the binding stage and snuggle up under it on the couch while I stitch it on! I’m thrilled with the nude colorway of the 2D Zoo fabric and might have to get some for future quilts.
soooooooooooooooo cute! makes me wnt to have a boy. serious.
very cute anna. and great (simple) freezer paper designs. love it all.
Super cute! I’ve gotta try hand sewing my binding.
love that blue dot…do you remember who makes it?
I love this quilt…and I’m thinking I should hire you to do my bindings since I’m REALLY bad at them…well, I’ve only done one, but it was a pain.
I just found your site through How About Orange. I love it! My sister-in-law based her nursery around the Alexander Henry 2D Zoo Print. I made her a baby blanket that coordinated. I am going to have to make your cargo-pants messenger bag for my trip to San Diego this summer.
Thanks!
I love love love the backing!
Very nice baby boy quilt. I like the polka dot back.
